Induction Days are on Wednesday 7^th & Thursday 8^th July 2010.  Parents will receive a letter in the post prior to this,  giving them full details of the days,  including which House their child is in.

Induction evenings for Parents are as follows :-

Wednesday 7^th July – Ada, Brunel & Da Vinci Houses

Thursday 8^th July – Hawking, Nightingale & Wisden Houses

Induction Evenings will start at 5.30pm in the Main Hall, and are for parents only.  There will then be the opportunity to meet the Head of House, House Pastoral Assistant & Form Tutor as well as purchasing equipment, viewing uniform & sampling school meals!

Congratulations to all students who have been involved in each round of the tournament. It has been a huge success this year: more than 100 students have been involved overall.

An extra big thank you to the students who have helped to run this competition: Sophie Lunny, Kate Whinnett, Shaun Hunt and Heather Styles. It couldn’t have taken place without you.

The regional team has also been decided from another series of trials. The fabulous four going forward to represent Neale-Wade at Bedford on 10th March are:

Team Captain: Emily Richardson; Player 2: James Richardson; Player 3: Elijah Almanzor; Reserve (Player 4): Louis Ayres.

Neale Wade Community College Sports Department is committed to optimising the enjoyment and playing conditions for our pupils during sporting activity.

We have partnered up with an innovative new company called Simply Baselayer Ltd. who are dedicated to bringing schools PE kit into the 21st Century. They produce some of the best baselayer garments on the market as used by international athletes across the world. They are going to be manufacturing a Neale Wade CC own branded baselayer and, by dealing with the school directly we have the opportunity of purchasing the garments with a big discount.

What is the Ignite baselayer product?

The Ignite baselayer is an under layer garment that pupils can wear underneath their current sports kit during games. The primary function being that it will keep our pupils warm in cold conditions increasing their sporting enjoyment and overall experience.

Please can you sign and return the below ‘cut-off slip’ to confirm that you would like your son/daughter to have one. The price of this premium quality baselayer is just £20.00 for Junior and £23.00 for Senior sizes.

The cut off date for orders is Friday 10^th July. The baselayers will then be delivered in September ready for the autumn term.

Open Golf Championship 2009 Thursday 9^th July venue Ramsey Golf Course

As part of the Cambridgeshire Schools Golf Association we would like to offer all golfers within the student body the opportunity to compete in the Neale-Wade Community College open championship.  This will take place on the above date and will cost £5

Arrangements for the day:

Meet outside the pro shop at 12pm

Tee times in 3 – ball matches (dependant on numbers) from 12:15pm

18 holes Stableford competition for handicap golfers, please bring handicap evidence. Non handicapped players quote golfing experience please.

10 hole stroke play competition for non handicap golfers

Dress code:- Collared shirt/polo shirt, trousers/tailored shorts NO DENIM, socks, trainers preferably golf shoes

Unfortunately there is no transport available so competitors will have to make their own way to the course, directions available.

We aim to finish at about 3:30pm for collection at the club.

COMPETITORS MUST SUPPLY THEIR OWN CLUBS

If your son/daughter is interested in taking part in this competition please return the slip below with the course fee in a sealed envelope to Mr Crosbie before Thursday 2^nd July.  There is however a limited number of places available and if exceeded the entries will be selected on the basis of behaviour around college and especially within the department.

You will appreciate that this outing is not compulsory college instructions and that neither the County Council, the Governors or managers, or any staff taking part in it can accept any personal liability except in so far as legal liability can be established.  You may of course make private arrangements for personal accident insurance.

Friday 22nd May was the final day for this year’s Year 11 students.  Congratulations to all of you – and you leave with our very best wishes and hopes for the future.

Year 11s had their leavers’ assembly this afternoon with lots of awards and celebrations.

We’ll upload some photos as soon as possible, but just wanted to share our thanks and appreciation for everyone’s efforts and hard work.

After the fourth round of the chess tournament there is still everything to play for. Ben Macnamara (year7, Wisden), Alex Field (year 7, Hawking) are still in joint first place joined this week by year 5 Westwood student Curtis Oldroyd  who has been impressing people with his tactical game.  His success is even more remarkable as he has only recently learnt to play.  Ronan Love (year 7 Hawking) is in second place with 9 points but has a game in hand as he is still to play Zak White (year 11,Ada) who on 6 points with two games to play is still in with a chance to get back into the lead.   Matthew Holder (year7, Wisden)( Louis Ayres (year 6, Mrs Harpers class, Westwood) and Abby Howes( Mrs Lilley’s class, Westwood) are not far behind on 8 points and, with 9 points still to play for in their last three games, are still all able to qualify for the regional round of the national competition.

It is not too late to take part in the tournament so see Mr M. Field or come along on Thursday after school in the Library to join in.  Everyone is welcome from grandmasters to beginners.

On the updated Parent-Teacher group page parents & carers can now submit questions to the College.  The aim with this new feature is to create a ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ page where relevant answers will be found all in one place.

It uses an online Google form which sends your question to two representatives from the group – one teacher and one parent / carer.  They will then respond to the question and, with your help, construct a growing list of questions.

This is not designed to replacing any existing practice, but rather enhance the communication between home and College even further.

Involvement and enjoyment was the aim of the evening and it did not disappoint.

The first of three Parent Involvement Evenings was held last Tuesday, more than 160 parents and students came to partake in an interactive experience focussed on helping prepare for year 11 mock exams.

The informal evening covered mind-mapping, image chains, mneumomics, on-line learning and some advice from last years GCSE groups.  We look forward to the next evening.
