Friday 18th: College open

Tags: snow, weather

Currently Neale-Wade will open as planned. However with some heavy snowfall overnight in the Fenland area this situation may change. This blog, and consequently the College website, will be updated the moment any plans are changed.

Do check back here for further updates – we will keep this blog updated with the latest news.

It’s really bad where i am, and i live right down the road from neale wade, it’s snowed quite abit, …. so be careful if your planning on going outside.

Dec 18, 2009 6:59

We went on the drama trip to Blood brothers yesterday the “2 hour journey” took 5 hours. The roads were VERY dangerous and that was before this load of snow we got over night. The teachers were dreading having to go home and I wouldn’t be surprised if loads of the teachers were worried about the journey to come in today. If we only have 2 lessons and an assembly we really aren’t going to be doing much work anyway so why take an unnecessary risk for nothing? I live in March so it isn’t a problem for me but there are a lot of people who don’t live in March and there’s more snow forecasted for later anyway.

Hayley (Helix, yr7 girl in ada)
Dec 18, 2009 7:01

I think we ALL should go to school today because if your mates live a long distance away from you then this might be the last chance to see them before christmas. I am going to come to school – if it is open – so I can say ‘bye’ to my mates. To make the ‘day’ more fun we could have a snowman competition if the snow doesn’t melt before we can that is!

chloe
Dec 18, 2009 7:03

there seems to be quite alot of snow, and its not even like we’re going in for a full day PLUS we wont be learning anything in these two and a half lessons we have, its not often something exciting, such as snow, comes to march, so cant you just let us enjoy it? PLEASE :D

Dec 18, 2009 7:04

i dont see the point its half day and theres snow

A Parent.
Dec 18, 2009 7:06

I don’t think the school should open. As it is only a half dady anyway,Ii don’t htink it is worse all of the hastle of getting everyone in safely just for half a day.

year 10
Dec 18, 2009 7:06

i dont think we should go. its half a day to what is the point.its gunna be pretty hard for people living far away to travel and then just have to go back again cause of the half day.

C’mon people! Its just a little snow! Once again Britain comes to a standstill of panic because some white stuff fell from the sky!! I’m still coming in! Just avoiding any ditches this time round! :-P

Year 8 student
Dec 18, 2009 7:15

I don’t think that we should go to school as the snow is settling,
The roads are slippery and i have to walk to school, i live a long way away from neale wade and i don’t really want to get wet and snowy. :(

yr 10 pupil
Dec 18, 2009 7:17

personally i wanted to come in today to see all my friends. however… i live out of march and so have to travel by bus and looking out at the roads they are still white and look pretty dangerous. i would be more than happy to come in if the roads weren’t so bad… but seeing how bad they look it makes me anxious about the journey traveling into school…please consider closing for the sake of us people that have to travel in.

YR7 Girl
Dec 18, 2009 7:17

Neale Wade let us have this 1 day off school the time it snowed in december ws when i was 3 and i don’t even remember going out and playin in it s plz let us have the day off

Student
Dec 18, 2009 7:17

I am un-decided if we should come in today:

I think its going to be dangerous for all those not living in march to travel into school today..

But i also think, if they dont want to come in then that fine, however for those who still want to i think it would be really nice for us all to see our friends before crimbo and give out the last of these christmas presents….

I dont know whether to start getting ready or not because not sure if gonna get ready then we wont have to go in….

Dec 18, 2009 7:23

police have given out a warning not to travel unless its nessesary! its heavy snow and prodicted more during this morning i believe it will be worse to arrange travel back especially for people who arrive to school in buses. i do beleive that especially this day i am having interhouse and an assembally and others two lessons instead of interhouse. its pointless! we may aswell stay in bed and be warm. im not looking foward to be pelted with snowballs :(

Dec 18, 2009 7:28

there is no point opening the school for 3 hours and there is more snow on the way today. its not worth it

Adult.
Dec 18, 2009 7:29

I dont think we should go to school because it will snow heavier soon in the day and it will be trouble to get back home again, also people live far away and will have trouble getting here. it is only a half day, people wouldn’t come in anyway, so i don’t see the point. Just close the school for the kids.

You should just close the school theres no point keeping it open we’re all going home at period 3 anyway.
Also a majority of the teachers live in Peterborough so who’s going to keep an eye on us!
Neale-Wade + Snow = Disaster Snow Fights There is totally no point :(

Dec 18, 2009 7:40

Last night i went on the drama trip. I didn’t get back until after 11:30pm. On the way home, we saw a lot of cars that had been involved in accidents because they had skidded off of the road. One of the cars we saw that had an accident was an ambulence. It had skidded off of the side of the road and into a ditch. If you open the school today, there could be many more crashes like this. So please don’t open the school. It’sa not like we have an exam or anything today. We won’t miss much. Just the assembly which is the same every year pretty much. Many Thanks.

Dec 18, 2009 7:42

i like to come in today but i dont think its gunna be very safe for the people living outside of march to travel!

Dec 18, 2009 7:44

I think the school should be closed, it will be really difficult for people who live further away, and
it’s only a half day. What’s the point?

Is the school open today then ?

Edit by Admin: Yes – as stated on the blog and main website – the College is open.

Dec 18, 2009 7:53

This is my last christmas at Neale Wade and as to now it has never snowwed.
At school everyone will be throwing snowballs and people will get hurt, the roads aren’t very safe to travel on and the news is saying only go out if nessasary.
I think the college should be closed as school is only a half day, and nobody will turn up anyway because of this and the snow.
Happy Christmas Neale-Wade :D

Dec 18, 2009 7:54

why are we aloud to make commentss on your Blogs if they dont mean anything?
we have over 45 people against the idea, and 2-3 people that want to attend, and those are teachers?
i dont see the point of even begging for school to be closed if you already have your mind set.

Sad Student :(
Dec 18, 2009 7:55

it was hard to tell my little brother who was looking forward for playing in the snow with me taht i have to go to school for a stupid 3 hours his school is closed and he now ha no one to play with i got upset because i could she his fae sadden just beacuse stupid school is open plz do it for our younger brothers and sisters to have someone to play with becuse he has to have a childminder now grrrr :(

Dec 18, 2009 8:01

Im not coming in to school. Its not just a little snow its alot and i dont want to do boring lessons when we can be out in the snow!! It will be a nightmare for the people who live in wisbech and have to take the bus to school!!! Shut the school!! :(

Meeeee!
Dec 18, 2009 8:01

I think if you live in march then there is no excuse not to go in. people who live in wisbech, maney, christchurch, outwell etc, they have some trouble getting in due to roads being icey. But, yes it should be closed i wouldn’t have gone in! Snow day! :D

year 11 student
Dec 18, 2009 8:02

it is so cold this morning and my dad can get into his car because its frozen, and this means that most of the cars will be frozen so no-one will be able to get into school, so there is bo point in opening the collage to day.

Adult.
Dec 18, 2009 8:03

Oh just get on with it kids, go and have fun with your friends in the snow on the last day/morning of school, its all part of it – you’ve got a nice long holiday after today!

they need to update the website thingy cuz thts from yestday (therefore thay havent decided yet)

p.s merry christmas

Edit by Admin: Not quite sure what you mean by this – we’ve been updating the site continually and were ready to do so further as required. There was the time when I was travelling to College which may have made it look like it wasn’t being updated, but we’ve kept the site really up to date – the key message on the site saying that the College is open has been there since 6am

Dec 18, 2009 8:23

i personally think you should close the school, im not coming in as my parents think the roads are too bad so even if i did want to i couldnt, but i think you should close it for march students as i went out in the snow this morning and it was really deep so most students have to walk in that and they are going to be cold and wet and theyve got to sit in that clothing for the rest of the day, and then have an assembley. the floors in the sports hall are going to be so wet and really disgusting. plus how often does it snow before christmas, with any luck it’ll snow on christmas day :) so close the school please? :)
