Adverse weather conditions
Neale-Wade Community College plans to open as usual the rest of this week (Thurs 7th – Fri 8th January) but if the situation changes we will update the blog and website immediately.
As in previous days there are a range of predictions and forecasts about the weather in March and the surrounding areas. The College considers all the heath & safety, transport and related issues extremely carefully when taking decisions about adverse weather.
Examinations information
Please note: In the event of a school closure due to bad weather conditions, all examinations will continue to run according to the published timetable. If you are meant to take an exam and are unable to attend or are running late you need to telephone 01354 657623 as soon as possible to get further advice. In the event of the school being closed the only part available to students will be the examination room as stated on the timetable.

Thanks for the comments – as Mr Hitch has said we always do our very best to support the local community and keep the College open. This means students can get access to the high standards of education at Neale-Wade. With predicted adverse weather for the coming weeks we cannot simply close when it snows. However, as previously stated, all decisions are taken looking very closely at forecasts and with the heath and safety of the entire College community in mind.

The college, I know is still open, because, there is hardley any snow on the ground in March. But, where I live in wisbech st mary, there is more. Not loads but a about 2 more inches. I dont know if the teachers have taken any notice of the forecast, but I was watching it last night. And today all around cambridgeshire, we are ment to have snow chucking it down all day! So, if that does happen, the school might have to close. And thats going to be manic! So, it might be safer to close it this morning.
Buses also arent turning up either. I know its nothing to do with the school if the buses arent turning up. But, it just makes it all the lot harder to go through the struggle to get in. I was about an hour late yesterday because my bus didnt turn up.

it’s snowed over night, although not a heavy amount still enough for safety issues. think twice about opening the school. thank-you.
have u seen how much its snowed over night!

Congratulations on making the right descision. We cannot let adverse weather conditions get in the way of our childrens education. Students need to understand that we can’t just ‘down tools’ at the first signs of poor weather. The real world just doesn’t work like that!
Have a good day everyone.

Of course it is cold – it’s winter – happens every year! Put a coat on and you will be fine. Well done Neale Wade.

i will not be sending my 3 children in to school today as they came home yesterday so cold from not enough heating in school.
shcool should be closed because if you look on met office on google the most updated one, it is forcasted for really heavy snow.

neale wade should definately close, at least for today. Its become even more treacherous to get to school and its so cold that students wont be able to fully apply themselves to their work.

why is every1 complaining over not even half a cm of snow!!! when its 2inches fair enough they should close the school.
Anonymous.
Has the attitude around here really gone that far down hill that a few centimetres of snow turns into a winge-fest?
The school is open kids, you may wish to stay at home and away from your education but would you really stay inside? No, chances are you go outside anyway to go play in the snow.
If school centres stays open in the snow, the snow becomes a bother. But if the school closes, the snow becomes god’s gift.
Mandatory institues are Mandatory.
Wrap up warm, if its cold, other people that live farther away from the school than those of you complaining get here.

Well done to the school for staying open. It seems some of the students may need a better work ethic. When the students become employees and are out in the commercial world their managers will expect them to still turn up for work and on time!! And those students who end up running their own successful business – will you put up with your staff just not bothering to turn up for work because of a bit of snow? As another parent has said – welcome to the real world! Put on an extra top or jumper if you are cold.

i kept my children home today as i dont believe the school is up to minimum temp and the children are not allowed to wear their coats in class.

Can anyone tell me if the Fenland Music Centre (CIMA) has been cancelled for Saturday morning?
admin
Hi – I’m afraid this is something we weren’t given information about – I would imagine the Fenland Music Centre was still on but if in doubt about future events I’d suggest calling the Sports Centre as they manage all the extra-curricular bookings. 01354 651329. Mr Dawson, the Sports Centre manager, has access to the blog (as you can see with the cancelled Tennis coaching on Friday) so I’d suggest that no news is good news.
