Final Principal’s blog from me over to Mr Welling from now on

During this final week of the academic year we continued to focus on the key business of teaching learning and also took time to reflect on the 2016-17 year. This year was historic as we achieved our aim of securing a good Ofsted judgement for the school across all areas of the inspection. The school had never achieved this outcome since the inception of Ofsted in 1992. I am suitably proud of the achievement of the students and staff who have been well supported by our parents and the wider local community that enable this very strong judgement to be given.

Our Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) continues to go from strength to strength and we have also introduced an alumni which has resulted in former students delivering highly informative sessions to our Year 9 students. We have contributed and supported the local community through our work at Aria Court with the local residents, coaching sports sessions in March and Wisbech schools, working on the garden at Westwood School and organising garden parties and events for local residents. This in addition to important role that our students have within dram clubs, orchestras and sports teams within the town. I believe that the symbiotic relationship that the Academy and town have is second to none and we should celebrate the fantastic setting in which our youngsters are thriving.

From September Cromwell Community College will join the Trust that sponsors Neale-Wade and it will become an Active Learning Trust school. I look forward to working closely with the principal, Mrs Horn, as we strive to provide the best education that is possible for the Fenland region.

My role will change from September and whilst I am still fully committed to Neale-Wade I will also be working at Burrowmoor Primary School and Littleport and East Cambs Academy (LECA). I will be working as Executive Principal and will be spending two days at Neale-Wade, two days at LECA and one day at Burrowmoor. I am fortunate to be working with Mr Welling, Mr Gaskins and Ms Jackson who are the respective Heads of School. These people are superb leaders of education in their own right and it will be a pleasure to work with them collectively.

This will be my final blog of this type as I pass on the baton to Mr Welling who will report on the weekly activities within Neale-Wade but I will continue to write an Executive Principal’s blog that will encompass the work of all three schools.

Finally I would like to wish you all a very restful break and I look forward to working with you in September.
